WASHINGTON: Last fiscal year, the united states failed to issue the 80,000 green cards necessary by law for companies. This has also been agreed upon by Biden's management. It has impacted over 10 lakh persons who are awaiting employment-based visas. There are increasing calls for the US congress to ensure that the remaining green cards are utilized. Each year, the US gives a maximum of 140,000 green cards to firms that want to come to the country. Since 1990, this has been the number. That has not changed under the current administration in the United States.

Cards for the family

A total of 226,000 "family priority" green cards are now in circulation. This indicates that there will be US citizens and non-permanent citizens, and these cards will be issued to their family members to allow them to remain permanently in the United States.

Employment

The remaining cards will be held for job searchers if the quota for family visas is not fully paid. They will be available by the end of the following fiscal year.

Additional cards are available.

Due to the shutdown of immigration offices as a result of Corona and limits placed by the trump administration, the number of family choice green cards declined in 2020. As a result, an additional 122,000 green cards for employment-based green card applications were made available. These green cards, on the other hand, are not limited to eligible individuals.

Biden's blunders in office

Despite last-minute urgency, the Biden administration failed to meet its goal of granting a green card by the september 30 deadline. This is seen as a systemic flaw. While many of the outstanding employees are qualified, the extra green cards have gone overlooked. Even though I am eligible for a green card, the administrative chaos is unacceptable in a country where people have been waiting for more than 16 years.

Arrangements have been made for next year's availability.

Tham Dillis, a Republican senator, and Representative Marianne Miller-Meeks, a Democrat, submitted a measure at this period. It asks the government to "withdraw" expired visas after september 30 and put them on hold for the following year.

80,000 Green Cards are available.

Around 80,000 green cards are set to expire shortly. While many indians await their green cards, the US government's inaction is likely to have a substantial impact on them.
