Necessary arrangements have been made at the airports for the convenience of the passengers as it takes about five-six hours to get the RT-PCR results.
There is a waiting area for people to stay until the results come out. If the test is negative, they will be sent home, following which they will be in solitary confinement for seven days.
Those isolated at home will be constantly monitored by health, revenue, and police officials. They will be allowed to come out only after the test comes back negative.
Random testing will be conducted on travelers from high-risk countries. He also said that for RT-PCR tests, passengers have to pay Rs 600.
At the behest of chief minister MK Stalin, the cost of random RT-PCR tests will be borne by the state health department, considering that a large number of workers and other financial victims may come from these countries.
Passengers can pay 3,400 and get their results within half an hour.
Fever testing systems are in place at all four international airports in the state to screen passengers. Those with temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius will be isolated and subjected to RT-PCR testing.
The state government has set up special wards for Omicron-positive patients in hospitals near all international airports.
