The US has received the necessary number of applications to reach the 65,000 H1-B visa ceiling for the fiscal year 2024 set by Congress. The H-1B numerical allotment for FY 2024, including the advanced degree exemption (master's cap), have been reached, according to the US Citizenship and Immigration services (USCIS), which announced this on Monday.

The USCIS announced that it had chosen at random from the registrations that had been duly submitted to reach the cap and had informed all prospective petitioners with selected registrations that they were qualified to submit an H-1B cap-subject petition for the beneficiary listed in the relevant selected registration. If based on a valid, selected registration, H-1B cap-subject petitions for FY 2024, including those petitions qualified for the advanced degree exemption, may be submitted to USCIS starting april 1, 2023.

Only petitioners with selected registrations and only for the beneficiary specified in the relevant selected registration notification may submit H-1B cap-subject petitions for FY 2024. A non-immigrant visa called the H-1B enables US businesses to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations that call for theoretical or technical skills. It is the work visa that international professionals, particularly Indians, want the most.
