In 2019, the AIADMK government declared november 1 as tamil Nadu Day, when foreign-speaking areas seceded from the then madras State.

The present chief minister MK stalin has announced that July 18, 1967, will be the day on which Anna State named madras State tamil Nadu.

Arguments have been made for and against this and it has become a controversy.

What is the background to this?

Linguistic states were formed on november 1, 1956, following the struggles that erupted across the country after India's independence.

The area where the Tamil-speaking population was in the majority continued to be the province of Chennai.

On July 18, 1967, the first DMK government headed by Anna passed a resolution naming the state of chennai as tamil Nadu in the tamil Nadu Assembly.

In this situation, the AIADMK government declared that day tamil Nadu Day.

Because stalin said

In this context, an announcement made by tamil Nadu chief minister MK stalin last saturday has caused controversy.

In his statement, he said, Anna passed a resolution in the assembly on July 18, 1968, changing the name of the province of madras to July 18, 1968.

He stated that november 1 should not be celebrated as tamil Nadu Day, except as a day to commemorate the border struggle on november 1 by various political parties, tamil sensitizers, the tamil Alliance and tamil scholars.

They continue to insist that the day named tamil Nadu should be celebrated as tamil Nadu Day. Accepting this, the government will soon issue a notice to celebrate July 18 as tamil Nadu Day.

Nothing to celebrate?

Today many parts of the states of Kerala, andhra pradesh and karnataka were then in the province of Chennai.

It is true that when the borders were demarcated, we lost many parts of our soil to the neighbouring states and there was nothing to celebrate that day.

Reality!

In 1956, only the area now known as tamil Nadu was declared a new chennai province.

Eleven years later, in 1967, a resolution was passed to rename the province of chennai as tamil Nadu. It came into force a year and a half later. These two are different practices.

Further, `Today is the 66th anniversary of the formation of the State of tamil Nadu. It has been 54 years since the resolution to name tamil Nadu, as the chief minister says, was passed.

If the question arises as to the age of tamil Nadu, what is the answer? The confusion of. Such confusions are unnecessary.

O.P.S. Review

The announcement of 'July 18 as tamil Nadu Day' is unreasonable.

Continuing, `When a baby is born it is named.

Even if the child's name is changed ten years later, the child's birthday will not be celebrated on the day the name is changed, except on the day the child is born.'

'Shocking announcement'

"What is tamil Nadu Day?"

These events were set up to ensure that it was the imperative of the times and the linguistic state.

This announcement has come as a shock to tamil scholars and Periyar sensitizers alike.

When the resolution was passed naming the province of chennai as 'Tamil Nadu'. The same resolution has been defeated four times in the legislature before. After the DMK government came to power, it was legalized and sent.

The day of the separation of the linguistic state is more important than naming tamil Nadu.

Central's Decision?

Subsequently, the JVP committee (Jawaharlal Nehru, Vallabhbhai Patel, Pattabhi Sitharamayya) was asked for their views on linguistic separation.

They then formed a committee for state reorganization and confirmed that november 1 is the day when the states are divided linguistically.
