The bjp won the Tripura local body elections. It is learned that local body elections were held in the state on the 25th of this month.
Out of a total of 334 seats in the state, the bjp won 112 seats unanimously. Meanwhile, the TMC's hopes were dashed when the lotus party won 217 of the 222 seats up for grabs. The TMC had to settle for just one seat.
Local body elections in Tripura have been discussed in other states recently. The main reason for this is that the trinamool congress (TMC), which won a landslide victory over the bjp in the West bengal assembly elections this year, is contesting there.
In fact, this is the first time the bjp, which has formed a government in Tripura, is contesting local elections there.
However, the bjp has achieved unprecedented success.
This has dealt a blow to claims that the TMC is flying the flag in West bengal as well as goa and Tripura.
The results of the elections shattered the hopes of the trinamool congress, which had hoped to make its presence felt in the state, especially with this election.
Despite rigging, threats and violence at the polling booths, the party has made it clear that it will remain a strong opposition in the state. The ruling party claims to be singing the death knell for anarchy.
Meanwhile, Tripura assembly Speaker Ratan Chakraborty spoke on the BJP's victory. The trinamool congress has been accused of murdering democracy in West Bengal.
Now the riots in Tripura are alleged to have been an attempt to create confusion among the people. But, he said they have no chance of surviving in the state.
