Sweets distributed rather than halwa To mark the ultimate stage of the Union Budget-making process, rather than the Halwa Ceremony being held once a year, the core staff were provided sweets as they went through 'lock-in' at their workplaces, the ministry statement said.

A 'Union Budget mobile App' was also launched for members of parliament and the general public to view budget documents.

What is Halwa Ceremony Every year the printing of the budget is started with the Halwa Ceremony in North Block.



Halwa is prepared and distributed in a pan of the Ministry of Finance in the office. 

The Finance minister himself distributes the halwa with his own hands. 



Officers will also be present at the time of this ceremony. After the Halwa Ceremony is over, a total of about 100 employees of the Ministry related to the printing will stay for the next few days in the basement of North Block in the printing press building.
