India's objections to the WHO?...
Amidst increasing cases of the corona, a report was released by the World health Organization (WHO) on Thursday. The WHO has said in this report that in the last two years, about 15 million people have lost their lives either due to the coronavirus or due to the impact on health systems. WHO estimates that 47 lakh people have died due to coronavirus infection in India. However, india has objected to these figures.
Objection to introducing a higher mortality rate
India has objected to the WHO presenting higher mortality estimates related to the coronavirus pandemic, despite the availability of authentic data. india has strongly objected to the use of mathematical models, saying that the model and the methodology of data collection are questionable.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has described this figure as serious. He said countries should be motivated to invest more in their capabilities to deal with health emergencies. He said WHO is committed to working with all countries towards strengthening their health information systems to generate data for better decisions and better outcomes.
The extreme mortality rate includes deaths related to Covid-19. WHO said, the estimates cannot be considered as national figures officially prepared by india because of the difference between the data and the methods used by WHO.
