Ananta Udya bhaskar alias Ananta Babu, a member of the ysr congress party in the andhra pradesh state legislative council (MLC), was detained by police on May 19 for the suspected murder of his former driver V Subrahmanyam. Ananta Babu filed a bail petition in the rajahmundry metropolitan magistrate court on Friday, claiming that the prosecution had failed to submit evidence in the case and that he deserved bail. On june 7, the bail petition is scheduled to be heard.

Interestingly, despite being detained 10 days ago, the police have not yet taken Ananta Babu into custody for questioning. If the police are unable to apprehend him by june 6, his judicial remand will be completed, and he would be eligible for bail, according to sources. There were allegations that the police were delaying gathering evidence to present in court on purpose.

Despite the fact that YSRC president and chief minister Y S jagan Mohan reddy had him suspended from the party, police are alleged to be very mild in their treatment of the MLC. During the post-arrest press conference, the police also claimed that the legislator had shoved Subrahmanyam during an argument, causing him to fall and die. They claimed Ananta Babu caused injuries on Subrahmanyam's body in order to make it appear as if he died in a car accident. The driver's family, on the other hand, was sceptical of his story.
