Mamata waiting for Modi: bengal becomes Bangla!?

At present, it is known that the names of cities are being changed by the respective state governments in various states. It is known that the name of aurangabad has been changed to Shambhaji nagar in maharashtra and the name of Osmanabad has been changed to Dhara Shiv. Earlier in Uttar Pradesh, the bjp government changed the name of allahabad to Prayaga raj and Mughal Sarai to Deen Dayal Upadhyay. Also, the ap government renamed Konaseema district as Ambedkar district in Andhra Pradesh. The process of changing names is going on in many places.

In this background, the trinamool congress government requested the Center to change the name of West bengal state to Bangla. The permission of the central government is mandatory for changing the names of states and cities. States can change the names and send those recommendations only to the Centre. The change of their names will come into effect only if approved by the Centre.

In this context, the mamata banerjee government has reported to the center that the name of West bengal should be changed to Bangla. Union minister Nithyanandarai told the members about this during the current monsoon session of Parliament. It is said that it is under the consideration of the central government.

When india and pakistan split in 1947, bengal was divided into two and east bengal was merged into Pakistan. Muslims are in majority in east Bengal. In this background, east bengal was handed over to pakistan on religious grounds, while West bengal remained in India.

But in 1971, when the anarchy of pakistan increased, indira gandhi took military action against pakistan and made east bengal a new country..Bangladesh. As a result, east bengal was separated from pakistan and formed a new country.

But since then West bengal in india continues with the same name. In this context, the chief minister of that state has been asking for its name to be changed for some time now. The state government has proposed to have the name Bangla in bengali Hindi english languages.
