What has the ED alleged?

The ED probe pertains to alleged financial irregularities in the redevelopment of Patra Chawl and financial transactions involving his wife and associates. Spread over 47 acres in suburban Goregaon, Patra Chawl is also known as siddharth Nagar and houses 672 tenant families. In 2008, MHADA awarded the contract for the redevelopment of the chawl to Guru ashish Construction Pvt Ltd (GACPL), a subsidiary of HDIL. GACPL was to construct 672 flats for the tenants and some flats for MHADA. Thereafter GACPL was free to sell the remaining land.

According to the ED, the tenants did not get a single flat in the last 14 years as the company did not redevelop Patra Chawl, but sold the land to others for a total of Rs 1,034 crore.
The ED alleges that sanjay raut hatched the entire conspiracy from behind the scenes through praveen Raut to evade the eyes of the law. praveen Raut is a co-accused in this case. Raut got Rs 3.27 crore of the total proceeds of the crime.
