On april 14, Nabaruna karmakar, an indian American, 33, was discovered dead from two gunshot wounds. At their residence in Raleigh, north carolina, she was discovered dead. Her 40-year-old husband Michael Matthews is accused of killing her. Her friends and family recall karmakar as a talented engineer, researcher, and data scientist. She obtained her master's and PhD in industrial engineering from north carolina University while working as a researcher at SAS Institute.

Michael allegedly shot and killed his wife before calling 911 to report a double suicide, according to local media. Karmarkar was, coincidentally, the only person shot at the spot when they discovered her, and the police now think she was killed. They haven't been successful in determining the murder's motive, though. On april 17, Mathew made an appearance in court and was granted bond to stay in jail. Their neighbours, meanwhile, claim that they were shocked by the incident because the pair was amiable and enjoyed travelling.

We are all extremely saddened by the passing of Nabaruna karmakar, a lovely child with a sharp mind whose life was taken by gun violence, according to the fundraising on her GoFundMe page. The family of Naba is organising a fundraiser for the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund.
