According to Maria C. Lehman, president of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the kaleshwaram project in telangana, the largest lift irrigation project in the world, is a success story that the rest of the world may learn from. Lehman emphasised that they intended to highlight game-changing initiatives like the kaleshwaram project in the sustainability arena when he awarded IT minister KT Rama Rao the ASCE's plaque honouring kaleshwaram as a lasting emblem of engineering advancement and teamwork on Monday. She remarked, "We'll publicise the videos and show it to others."
After giving a speech at the ASCE-hosted World Environmental and Water Resources congress in Nevada, USA, in 2023, the minister spoke with ASCE's senior leadership. ASCE delegates spoke about their observations and feelings after visiting the kaleshwaram project last year during the conference. Shirley Clark, the incoming president of ASCE and the Environmental and Water Resources Institute (ASCE-EWRI), described kaleshwaram as a "mind-blowing and amazing project."

She said that the initiative has improved the standard of living for Telangana's citizens. "As a Hydraulic Engineer, lifting the water 500 metres blows my mind," Clark said, adding that she would show the footage to her students to help them comprehend how the project was planned and carried out.

The project's social components, according to ASCE-EWRI director Brian Parsons, are an additional assurance of Kaleshwaram's success. It's a universal problem to maximise the use of the resources at hand, and telangana is taking a step in that direction that will undoubtedly serve as a model for others, according to Parsons.
