The telangana High court denied permission to erect a statue of former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao in Khammam's Lakkaram Lake last month. The Yadava Sangam, which protested the placement of the statue depicting ntr as Lord Krishna, won the court's support for its arguments. It was said that these monuments would offend krishna worshippers.
The peacock pincham and vishnu Chakram were later removed, among other essential changes made by the organisers and the group sponsoring the monument. A sword has taken the place of the flute. In addition, the statue's previous dark blue hue has been replaced with gold. Instead of Lord krishna or another god, the statue now shows ntr as a monarch.

This statue cost Rs 4 crore to build, which was funded by industrialists, NRIs, and minister Puvvada Ajay. Jr. ntr was intended to unveil the 54-foot tall monument as part of NTR's centennial celebrations, but the opposition charged that the minister was doing it to win support from the kamma community, which is significant in Khammam.
