Rahul's appeal against 2-year jail sentence dismissed gandhi Nagar:

The gujarat high court dismissed the appeal of former congress mp rahul, who sought suspension of the 2-year jail sentence awarded by the surat court in the case of defamation of the 'Modi' community. A case was filed in the surat court of gujarat because rahul had spoken defamatoryly about the Modi community. In this case, rahul was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment, and he was disqualified from the post of MP. An appeal was filed in the gujarat court on behalf of rahul against the sentence. After the trial of the case was over, the high court, which delivered its judgment today (July 07), dismissed the appeal. Also, judges have no discretion to suspend the 2-year jail sentence. The judgment of the surat court is correct. It cannot be interfered with. rahul has at least 10 criminal cases against him. Thus, the appeal is dismissed in the judgment. Due to this order of the gujarat high court, rahul cannot contest the election. mp cannot seek cancellation of suspension. Legal experts have said that they can appeal against this decision in the supreme Court.

The gujarat high court has dismissed rahul Gandhi’s plea seeking a stay on his conviction in a criminal defamation case in which he has been sentenced to two years in prison.

In April, a sessions court in surat had dismissed the congress leader’s appeal against the conviction order passed by a magistrate’s court in the previous month.

This means that rahul, who had been elected to Lok Sabha from Wayanad in kerala in 2019, remains disqualified from Parliament. He can now go to the supreme court to appeal against the decision of the High Court.
