Samajwadi party leader Azam Khan has been convicted by the court in a hate speech case. Azam Khan gave a provocative speech during the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign. Khan had given a derogatory and provocative speech in a public meeting. He also commented on PM narendra modi and cm Yogi Adityanath. In this case ADO (ADO) panchayat Anil Kumar had filed a case in Shahzadnagar police station. This matter was going on in the MP/MLA court. The court has convicted Azam Khan and sentenced him to 2 years imprisonment.
Azam Khan, found guilty after the decision of the LP-MLA court in the hate speech case, was taken into judicial custody after being sentenced to 2 years. Azam Khan's lawyers are now applying for his bail. Azam Khan was prosecuted under Section 171 G and Section 505 (1) B and Section 125 of the Representation of the people Act. The cross-examination on behalf of Azam Khan in a special court in Rampur had already been completed and MP/MLA Magistrate Shobhit Bansal had fixed July 15 as the date for pronouncing his verdict. It is noteworthy that during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, a case was registered against SP leader Azam Khan by the then video surveillance team in-charge Anil Kumar Chauhan for allegedly giving an inflammatory speech at an election rally in Dhamora, police station Shahzadnagar.
