Monsoon Session: There was uproar in the lok sabha and rajya sabha over the discussion on Manipur for the second consecutive day. The opposition is adamant that PM Modi should make a statement in the house, while the government is saying that these people do not want discussion.
What did the government say?
Union Defense minister Rajnath Singh said during the ruckus of the opposition in the lok sabha, "The incident in Manipur is serious. Realizing its seriousness, prime minister Narendra Modi also said that the whole country is ashamed of what happened. PM Modi has also talked about strict action. We want there to be a discussion in Sadam. I had also said this in the all party meeting, but I am seeing that some political parties are creating such a situation that the matter should not be discussed. These people are not serious about the incident in Manipur.
At the same time, Union minister Anurag Thakur, while targeting other opposition parties including Congress, said that the government wants to discuss the issue of Manipur violence and also wants to participate in the discussion, but the opposition is running away from the discussion. The proceedings of the parliament are not being allowed to go on.
Information and Broadcasting minister Thakur said in the parliament house complex that if we look at the example of the last few sessions of the parliament, it is clear that the opposition tries to make some excuse or the other so that there is no discussion and the parliament does not function.
What is the case of Manipur?
A video went viral in Manipur on Wednesday. In this, the crowd is parading two women naked. According to the police, this matter is of May 4. Four people including the main accused have been arrested in the case.On this, PM Modi had said outside the house on thursday (July 20) that the countrymen were being embarrassed. The guilty will not be spared. Violence broke out in Manipur on May 3, the day of the 'Tribal Solidarity March' organized by the Meitei community to demand Scheduled Tribe status in the state. So far more than 150 people have lost their lives in this.
