HC asks telangana government for not responding to RTI…

The high court has pulled up the telangana government and the hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) for not providing information under RTI to congress MP and President of telangana Pradesh congress Committee. The high court said, a Member of parliament needs to raise the grievances of the public. If he does not have the information then what will he say in the Parliament. The high court has asked the state government and hmda to respond.

congress state president revanth reddy had sought information about the contract for a tollbooth built under the toll operate transfer model on Nehru Outer Ring Road in hyderabad, which was not given to him. Against this, he has approached the High Court.

30 year lease instead of 20

reddy told the court, the tollbooth has been given on lease for 30 years, against the normal practice of 20 years. He also alleged that the tender was awarded to a company at a lower rate of 7380 crores without disclosing the base price.Reddy told the court that he had filed an RTI on May 1, 2023 for information about the auction process. On May 23, he replied that only partial information was given and it was said that the rest is still under consideration.

Wrote a case instead of answering

On june 14, the congress MP sought information regarding extension of the lease period to 30 years by filing another RTI in the same matter. reddy told the court that while the second petition was still pending, hmda filed a suit in the trial court claiming that they were making defamatory comments in the media against hmda, on which the trial court passed an ex parte order and awarded them Banned from giving controversial statement against hmda till 3rd August.

Reddy alleged that the hmda filed the case in "revenge" to stop him from speaking out. revanth reddy said that since the HDMA failed to respond to the second RTI application even after 30 days, he has approached the court. He also told that the posts of Chief Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioner are vacant, due to which he had to come directly to the court.
