A reckless driver struck and killed a woman and her daughter as they were out for a morning stroll, a city worker cleaning the streets was struck by a drunk driver's automobile, and a speeding bus ran over a pedestrian. Numerous families lose loved ones in traffic accidents, and data show that pedestrians are the most at risk. Since quite some time, concerns about pedestrian safety have been a feature of traffic regulation, yet despite several interventions, fatalities on city roadways still occur.
The year saw a total of 691 pedestrian road accidents, of which 109 fell under Section 304 (a) - causing death by carelessness. This information comes from the hyderabad City police Annual Report 2022. In comparison to the 95 pedestrian fatalities reported in 2021, 110 pedestrians perished in traffic incidents in 2022. Around 1,300 more automobiles register with the transport department each day. It should not be surprising that there is limited space for pedestrian activity given this. The situation is exacerbated by people using pathways illegally and by people not knowing the regulations of the road.

Make Use of Available Infrastructure
The right use of pelican signals and foot over bridges, according to Additional Commissioner of police (Traffic) G Sudheer Babu, will reduce the number of deaths. He urges pedestrians to take full advantage of road infrastructure. He emphasises the variety of alternatives to carelessly crossing streets by saying that one can alternatively use metro stations. "The city currently has a huge number of metro stations with elevators and escalators.

They can be used to cross roadways. One of the causes of pedestrian accidents is wrong-side driving, and according to Sudheer Babu, almost 3,96,000 challans have been handled for this offence. He continues, "We are also paying additional attention to prevent vehicles from crossing the stop line, as that is another factor in pedestrian accidents.
