Prior to this, on the 9th, officials in two vehicles, armed with rifles, conducted a raid at the grand bungalow house of minister Senthil Balaji's younger brother Ashokumar, located in the ram Nagar area on the Karur-Salem National Highway. The Income Tax officials first started raiding this house two months ago.
Ashok Kumar was summoned for the first time by asking him to appear in person at the door of the perimeter wall where the construction work was going on. It is also worth noting that already on the last 3rd and 4th, the officials raided the house and office of minister Senthilbalaji's assistant shankar in Karur, the tiles showroom of Thanalakshmi Marbles located in chinna Andangovil area and the house of its owner Prakash and seized some important documents. Amidst the search, Ashokumar's wife Nirmala was summoned to Ashok's house in Ramakrishnapuram area of Karur asking her to appear in person at the bungalow where the search is taking place along with the property documents. Following this, the enforcement officials went to the Karur Registrar's office and issued a notice. In that letter, it was mentioned that the properties of the bungalow house in the name of ashok Kumar's wife Nirmala have been frozen and the property should not be transferred, sold or otherwise dealt with without obtaining prior permission from the Joint director of Enforcement Department, Chennai.
As he did not appear after being sent the summons, the Enforcement Department sought to investigate ashok kumar to finish the case against minister Senthil balaji as soon as possible. minister Senthil balaji has already been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate and is in Puzhal Jail.
