Electronic City techies have to wait longer to reach their offices by metro. The supply of two sets of new type basic model coaches to Bangalore Metro Railway Corporation from china has been delayed, due to which the RV Road-Bommasandra (Yellow Line) route, which was supposed to start in December, has been postponed to March-April 2024. As a result, the metro connection to Electronic City, which is going to be the second IT corridor of our metro after KR Pura-Whitefield, is getting delayed.

18.2 km if it is as expected. Metro service should have started on this route from the end of the year itself. The yellow line's scheduled commissioning from 2021 kept getting postponed and now the deadline has been missed again. As per the deadline, CRRC was to supply the bogies within 173 weeks of the contract. However, this has not been possible due to many reasons including covid, FDI policy, trade restriction, search for subcontracting company. The expectation that the bogies will arrive this september is false, and the first set of bogies are coming from china after the second week of October.

After the arrival of these coaches, various checks and trial run should be done as per the safety guidelines. Initially, the Railway Department's RDSO (Research, Design and Standards Organization) in lucknow will conduct its inspection. It will take at least 3 months. Therefore, Metro officials said that it is difficult to start metro traffic on this route from December. Further, 35% of the various spare parts of the bogies have to be brought from elsewhere. Because of this also the supply of railway coaches is delayed. Earlier aluminum bogies were manufactured by Titagarh Wagon Company. Now making steel bogies.

Overall, out of 216 coaches, 126 coaches (21 trains) are being used for purple and green line. It has been decided to use the remaining 90 coaches (15 trains) for the yellow route. Initially Titagarh Wagon Company will provide around 8-10 trains for yellow route. All the bogies are likely to be supplied by the end of July 2024. Also, the construction of 16 stations of RV Road-Bommasandra Metro on the new yellow line has been completed by 98% and the civil works will be completed by September. After that, BMRCL officials have informed that the work of signaling and track alignment is in progress.
