Story- 1: In the year 2000, the results of the assembly elections came. RJD became the single largest party, but
remained far away from forming the government. The nda alliance also did not have a majority. However, the
alliance staked claim to form the government. Former Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan writes in his biography
– Atal Bihari and George Saheb asked me to go to bihar as chief minister to increase the number of MLAs. Both
of them believed that if I became the chief minister, the Dalit MLAs of RJD-Congress would come together.
Paswan further writes – After a lot of thought, I decided not to become the Chief Minister. After this, Nitish's
name was put forward. Nitish was the Union Agriculture minister at that time. As soon as the offer came, he
rejected 'Humko nahi chahiye'. According to Paswan, Nitish was afraid that if he could not prove his majority, he
would have to stay in Bihar. In such a situation, the post of the minister of the center will go out of hand. Atal and
George sensed this fear of Nitish and sent him to bihar after giving assurance. nitish kumar became the Chief
minister of bihar on 3 march 2000. However, he had to resign after 7 days due to not being able to prove his
majority. Two months after leaving the chief minister's chair, Nitish again became a minister at the center.
Case-2: JDU became the third number party in the bihar assembly elections of the year 2020. In this election,
RJD got 75 seats, bjp 74, JDU 43, congress 19 and others got 32 seats. With 126 MLAs, the nda staked claim
to form the government, which included 74 bjp MLAs and 43 JDU MLAs. As soon as the nda claimed to form
the government, Nitish said that he would not become the Chief Minister. According to the report, Nitish Kumar
told the bjp high command that 'we don't want any post now'. Get the chief minister from your party.
There was a stir in the bjp after hearing Nitish's statement. Although, after the intervention of the Prime minister,
Nitish agreed to become the chief minister, but within 2 years he parted ways with the NDA.
