Hyderabad has topped the list of the country's largest cities with the highest demand for electricity, which is a remarkable testament to the city's rapid development into a worldwide hub. According to the most recent data from the Central electricity Authority (CEA), Chennai's power demand in the current fiscal (2023–24) is followed by the State capital's power demand of 4,479 MW, which is 4,383 MW.
In accordance with the CEA research, Hyderabad's energy needs would expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.6 percent over the next six years, reaching over 30,000 MU by 2024–25. According to the research, Hyderabad's energy needs have actually increased by 12.9% during the previous six years.


Given the rate of expansion of hyderabad and the surrounding areas, it is predicted that during the next ten years, the peak power consumption would rise to 6458 MW.
