To complete the state's Galakote-Kudachi railway line by 2025 and Gadag-Wadi railway line by march 2026, Infrastructure minister M.B. Patil gave the deadline. Infrastructure Development minister MB Patila said on wednesday that the 257-km long Gadag-Wadi section, one of the important railway projects in North karnataka, is set to be completed by march 2026. Speaking at the progress review meeting of the two main railway projects of North karnataka namely Gadag-Wadi and Bagalkote-Kudachi, he said that a total of Rs. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 1,922 crore and the state government and railway departments are sharing 50 per cent of the cost each. 4,002 acres of land is required for this work and 3,945 acres of land has already been handed over for the work. He explained that the remaining 57 acres of land will be given within another month. There is already a railway track from Gadag to Talakal. 57 km from Talakal to Kushtagi. Work has been completed till Hanumpur. He said that the route up to Kushtagi will be completed by march 24. After that, trial train traffic will start here. On the other side, work is going on from Wadi side to Shorapur. Yalaburga mla Basavaraja Rayareddy requested the minister to emphasize quality in the work of Gadag-Wadi railway line.
At that time, minister Patil instructed the railway officials in the meeting to focus on maintaining quality in the work. He also directed to send teams to the places where the work is going on and ensure the quality. Overall, the work on this railway line cannot exceed the period of march 2026. He said that care should be taken not to increase the cost of work beyond this time limit. Another project, Bagalkote-Kudachi, is 142 km. Of the 2,496 acres of land required for the Rs 1,530 crore project, 2,476 acres have already been handed over. The remaining 20 acres of land will be handed over soon. He clarified that this work will be completed by december 2025. Meanwhile, the minister requested the concerned authorities to complete this project if possible by april 2025, i.e. six months earlier.
