In Kerala's kozhikode district, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly stabbed by her ex-boyfriend on Tuesday. Minutes before to the alleged incident, he was seen pursuing her down a street close to a market area on a CCTV camera. The victim and the accused, Arshad, previously had a connection. A few months earlier, their marriage had been planned, but the girl chose to break off the engagement.

After the girl was stabbed, neighbourhood shopkeepers—among them a guy by the name of Afsal—stepped in and were able to free the victim from the accused. The victim was hurt in her hand and sent right away to the hospital for treatment. Minor wounds were also sustained by Afsal during the event. Arshad was detained by the Nadapuram police after the incident and is presently being held on remand. The victim's statement was recorded by the police, who are also conducting additional inquiries into the incident.


The event happened at Kozhikode's Nadapuram during a busy time. The accused is shown on the CCTV holding the victim and pushing her before stabbing her. Around 2 pm, all of this occurred in broad daylight on Kalachi Old Market Road. Before stabbing the victim, the accused Arshad is also suspected of beating her. local media claims that he stabbed the girl with a knife. The CCTV tape reveals that a nearby bike-riding male sprang to the girl's defence as soon as he realised Arshad was abusing her. In fact, the girl was saved by quick-thinking traders who were nearby.
