The gigantic 500,000 sq. ft. mall and hypermarket in hyderabad, the state capital of Telangana, was opened by the Abu Dhabi-based retail behemoth LuLu Group. After establishing successful operations in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Coimbatore, this expansion places LuLu Group in its sixth indian city.

Visitors to the mall experienced delays of up to 40 minutes due to the massive traffic congestion caused by Hyderabad's citizens' overwhelming response. In order to escape the traffic congestion brought on by the LuLu Mall, commuters were encouraged to choose alternate routes. On social media, citizens aired their frustration about the traffic situation and asked the hyderabad Traffic police Department for help. Similar occasions, like the city's introduction of IKEA, were evocative of the mall opening's large attendance and frenzy.

Despite the early traffic difficulties, LuLu Group's entry into hyderabad demonstrates its dedication to providing a broad variety of shopping alternatives for India's expanding consumer market. In the long term, a flawless shopping experience for tourists may require addressing traffic problems.

“Dear fellow Hyderabadi’s, LULU Mall is going to stay here, it is not here for a week or two. Please wait till the rush subsides. You are creating a lot of troubles for people on emergencies who are getting stuck in mad traffic due to the people visiting it. Please wait and let the initial rush settle down, then you can visit the mall leisurely, (sic)” tposted a concerned city resident.

Prasanth Mamidala, a hyderabad resident working at the Netcracker company, urged people to be considerate. He said, “It’s taking 1 hour just to cross 2 to 3 km. Kukatpally, pragathi Nagar, Nizampet - everything is blocked because of this.”

Srinivas Bellam, an admin at a software company and part of the SCSC Traffic Volunteering group, added, “I would like to urge people of hyderabad to wait till the rush subsides to visit the mall and also would request others to go for alternative routes. Although they may be a bit far, you would have a better chance of reaching the destination faster and more peacefully.”
