Why China's ship Xi Yan-6 a big threat to India?


India planned to test a ballistic missile in the Bay of bengal in the month of november 2022. Additionally, a no-fly zone warning had been issued for the area where the missile test was conducted. However, china also simultaneously launched Yuan Wang-6, a spy ship, in the indian Ocean. india had to push back the date of its ballistic missile testing by a few days as a result of this Chinese ship.

India will conduct another missile test in the Bay of bengal exactly one year from now, in the month of october 2023. From october 5 to 9, there will be no flights from the Bay of bengal to the indian Ocean during the long-range ballistic missile test. A zone's creation has been announced. However, china already launched the Xi Yan-6 spy ship in the indian Ocean before this test. According to the information currently available, this ship is continuously moving towards sri lanka while positioned on a ridge at 90 degrees east longitude in the middle of the indian Ocean.

Approximately 48 Chinese scientific research ships have been deployed in the indian Ocean Region (IOR) by china from 2019 to the present, or over the course of the last four years. The Bay of bengal, South Asia, and the Persian gulf are the general areas of deployment. The arabian sea is on the gulf side.

What is Xi-Yan 6?

A 'Chinese research ship' is called the Xi Yan 6. The National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA), according to china, collaborates with this ship to carry out research. Experts think that this is a Chinese spy ship, though. A major undertaking of China's 13th Five-Year Plan to develop science and educational infrastructure is the Shi Yan 6 ship. The ship successfully completed its maiden voyage in the Eastern indian Ocean in 2022, two years after its inauguration. The Ranil Wickremesinghe administration in sri lanka has approved the docking of this Chinese research vessel in Colombo port in October.
