In a survey by Stanford university, located in the United States, twenty-four researchers from the university of hyderabad (UoH) were in the top two percent of highly cited researchers worldwide. A number of varsity professors are included in the list released by Stanford university, including Professors Goverdhan Mehta, AS Raghavendra, MNV Prasad, Attipalli R Reddy, SR Shetye, D Narayana Rao, K bhanu Sankara Rao, Pramod K Nayar, and Soma Venugopal Rao.

Similar to these individuals, the list also includes Drs. Satish Narayana Srirama, M Muthamilarasan, Niyaz Ahmed, Sachin Bhalekar, Alok Singh, Arunasree MK, Lalitha Guruprasad, DB Ramachary, Chandrashekhar Rajadurai, ashwini Nangia, Anunay Samanta, and Suryadevara Nagender Kumar.

As per the study, UoH’s contributions to the global top 2 percent are in multiple fields such as pharmaceutical cocrystals, solid-state assemblies, spectroscopy and dynamics of short-lived species, protein sequence to structure and function correlation, nano/micro scale molecules, green synthetic asymmetric methods and catalysts, molecular epidemiology, the biology of epigenetic gene regulation, nutrigenomics and stress biology of millet species, plant biochemistry environmental biotechnology, photosynthesis and carbon sequestration in higher plants. Notably, UoH’s Prof Pramod K Nayar is the only indian university researcher in the field of Literary Studies in the global top 2 percent.


Based on standardised data on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to publications in various authorship positions, and a composite indicator (c-score), this ranking—regarded as one of the most prestigious globally—is produced. More than 2,10,000 scholars from various nations are represented in the october 2023 data update, who are classed into 176 subfields and 22 main scientific subjects.
