Some Hostel 4 students at osmania university held a protest on Friday, causing a lengthy traffic gridlock on the campus. They demanded a change in the meal menu and a flexible mess schedule. Rather than having breakfast from 7 to 9 am, lunch from 12.30 to 2 pm, and supper from 7 to 9 pm, the PhD scholars requested that the management have access to the mess facilities continuously. The scholars bemoaned the exorbitant mess costs, claiming that they were still created even on the days when they did not eat in the mess.

According to a top university administrator, student preferences cannot be followed while operating the mess facilities. "Some PhD students are giving away free meals from the mess facilities in exchange for outsiders renting out their rooms. The official stated that they are now demanding to prepare their own meals in the room.

Regarding the menu shift, the official stated that the university has been serving a range of foods, including vegetable curries, mutton, chicken, and eggs. The official continued, "This menu can be relooked into after dasara vacation." watch out this space for more updates in this regard.
