Hyderabad has been experiencing a severe cold spell, with overnight lows of significantly below average for the last three days. This sudden shift in weather is attributed by the india Meteorological Department (IMD) to the effect of dry northerly winds that are blowing through the State.
The telangana State Development Planning Society's statistics up to 8:30 a.m. on wednesday revealed Serilingampally mandal to be the city's coldest area. The temperature near the university of hyderabad plummeted to a bone-chilling 13.4 degrees Celsius, sending locals scrambling for additional blankets and sweaters. With a temperature of 13.5 degrees Celsius, Moulali trailed closely after, while BHEL Factory recorded a noticeably warmer 14.2 degrees Celsius.

The city is shrouded in haze in the early hours, creating the illusion of a calm, quiet winter morning. Nevertheless, the oppressively hot and muggy weather persisted throughout the day. Hyderabad's night owls will have to put up with a few more chilly evenings, according to the IMD, as the minimum temperature dip is predicted to persist for the next five days.

The prediction stated that Thursday's maximum and lowest temperatures were expected to be about 32 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius, respectively. Haze and mist conditions were expected to persist throughout the morning hours of the day.

The prediction further stated that the surface winds would mostly come from the North and North-East and will continue to blow at a fast speed of 06–10 kmph.
