In Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh, a guy suspected of narcotics sales leaped into a river to avoid being taken into custody by the authorities. When local police came on sunday afternoon to deliver a notice to the accused—who was only known as Khan—the event took place. The man saw the cops approaching, so he sprang into the river, swam across, and was able to get away.

There is a video of the event that has come to light, in which the accused is shown resisting police calls to come out of the river. Khan, who is facing several counts, including Section 110 (penalty of abetment), in addition to the charge of narcotics sales. A top police officer stated that attempts are being made to catch criminal elements because of the impending assembly elections. He further mentioned that Khan is still being sought after.

Two adolescent girls perished on monday while swimming in the water of the khadakwasla Dam, according to fire brigade authorities, as reported by the PTI. According to the PTI, officials stated that nine girls, aged between 10 and 30, from the Buldhana district, had travelled to Pune's Gorhe Khurd hamlet for a family event. According to a fire official, it appears that seven of them went swimming in the dam water on monday morning and began to drown. Five of them were saved when several neighbours who noticed them right away dove into the sea, he added.
