Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has raised questions about the liquor policy of the Aam Aadmi Party
(AAP) government of punjab and Delhi. While addressing the press conference in Patiala, he cornered the Aam
Aadmi Party. Sidhu termed the excise policy as theft and swindling. He said that this is a big theft and now a
conspiracy is being made to justify itself.
The congress leader further said that the aam aadmi party had said that we will not give orders to open liquor
vends in front of schools, colleges, religious places. But, when this liquor policy remained in delhi for two and
a half to three months, after that this policy had to be withdrawn. As soon as the policy is withdrawn, it becomes
clear that there is something wrong with it. If this policy was in public interest and welfare then why was it
withdrawn? Sidhu further said that the policy was implemented in punjab, but it has not been withdrawn till
date. He said that this is a matter of Rs 30-40 crore.
Targeted at cm Mann
Navjot Singh Sidhu said that when the aam aadmi party government was formed, there was talk of forming a
corporation, but it did not happen. cm Mann has come under pressure from liquor contractors. Giving examples
of other states, Sidhu said that tamil Nadu earns Rs 44098 crore, telangana earns Rs 31 thousand crore, Kerala
earns Rs 16 thousand crore and karnataka earns Rs 29920 crore in a year.
Sidhu said that punjab earns Rs 4.5 thousand crores. If the punjab government forms a corporation and sells
liquor, then the revenue of the government can increase and the debt of the state will also be reduced. He said
that the government is collecting Rs 3500 crore every year from licensing of liquor vends, but there is no
accounting of it.
