Ravi Prakash Verma was recognized among the great leaders of Kurmi. With his leaving the Samajwadi Party

and joining the congress, the congress will be affected in Kheri as well as in many nearby lok sabha seats.

Along with Lakhimpur, there are seats like Dharohara, Hardoi, Shahjanhapur where Kurmi voters play a

decisive role in the Lok Sabha. If we talk only about Kheri lok sabha, then the number of Kurmi is the highest

among the backward population of about 35%.

Who is ravi Prakash Verma?

Ravi Prakash Verma has been the National General Secretary of Samajwadi party, his father Bal Govind Verma

was elected mp from Lakhimpur Kheri lok sabha constituency from 1962 to 1971 and again in 1980. After his

death a few days later, a by-election was held, in which ravi Prakash's mother usha Verma was elected MP.

After this she remained in parliament from 1984 to 1989. ravi Prakash was SP mp from 1998 to 2009, later he

was also a member of rajya sabha from 2014 to 2020.
