Former chief minister Yeddyurappa's son Vijayendra has been appointed as the new bjp president of karnataka state. The bjp lost to the congress party in last year's assembly elections in the state of Karnataka. Subsequently, while there were reports that the state bjp president is likely to be changed, former chief minister Yeddyurappa's son Vijayendra (47) has been appointed as the new state bjp president.

Nalin Kumar Katil, who has been working as karnataka state bjp president since 2019, has been replaced by Yeddyurappa's youngest son Vijayendra. Vijayendra's appointment as the 10th president of the bjp in karnataka is indicative of Yeddyurappa's influence within the party. In addition, Vijayendra, who contested for the first time in Shikaripura constituency and won as an mla in the last assembly election, is also considered an efficient leader. BS Yeddyurappa, who quit electoral politics, campaigned extensively for the bjp across the state during the assembly elections to help retain power. Also campaigning for his son across Shikaripura, he asked the voters of the constituency to let his son win with a majority. Shikaripura constituency was once Yeddyurappa's stronghold.

It was expected that the bjp would give the leadership of karnataka state to a person from the Lingayat community. But the fact that Vijayendra, a first-time mla, has been given the opportunity to have so many seniors has raised eyebrows. Yeddyurappa's elder son raghavendra is already a lok sabha MP. It may be recalled that the bjp has often said that it avoids promoting more than one member of a family in politics.
