This general treatment plant will be spread over an area of about 5 acres to collect and treat 20.00 lakh liters of sewage daily.


Out of the total value of Rs.40.00 crore, they have given letter of approval to provide Rs.20.00 crore as government share and Rs.20.00 crore on behalf of chipcott factory owners. Speaking on the occasion, minister Udayanidhi stalin said that industries should only bring sewage directly to the treatment plant. Similarly, waste water should not be discharged into the ground. He advised that factories should take care not to emit smoke or waste so as to pollute the air. He also informed that steps have been taken to take the 63,000 tonnes of waste accumulated in the Chipgat complex to the factories set up in Ramanathapuram district soon.

Steps will be taken to absorb and clean the already polluted ground water in the Chipkot complex. The existing open wells will be treated by taking ground water through bore well. Bore wells will be constructed where necessary to take the contaminated water and treat it. The treated water will be fed back to the industries.” said.


Udhayanidhi stalin stressed that it is the duty of all of us to protect the agricultural lands and water bodies without harming them, and requested that the industries should follow the government's regulations completely and the public should take advantage of the various schemes provided by the government for the benefit of the people.
