The karnataka government approved a motion presented by the State home Department on thursday to terminate the current cbi investigation against deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar's disproportionate assets. The case against DK Shivakumar was handed over to the cbi by the former BJP-led karnataka government.

In response to the state cabinet's approval of the motion, congress leader and karnataka minister HK Patil claimed the past BJP-led state government's decision to refer the issue to the cbi was "not in accordance with the law." Patil further claimed that the bjp did not seek approval from the karnataka Assembly Speaker before turning over the investigation to the CBI.

Meanwhile, bjp leader Basanagouda R Patil slammed the news, claiming that the cbi was conducting a "impartial investigation." "This appears to be a calculated attempt to manipulate the legal process in order to protect Shivakumar's interests." "Amid drought, fire tragedies, caste census controversies, and developmental challenges in the state, the Cabinet's focus on withdrawing consent from the cbi raises questions about its priorities," Patil wrote in a post. He also requested the karnataka Governor to question chief minister Siddaramaiah on the "orchestrated events." Stay tuned.
