Governor approves the Chief Minister's recommendation!

The governor has approved chief minister Stalin's recommendation to provide higher education to minister raja Kannappan. In 2011, tamil Nadu Higher education minister Ponmudi and his wife Vishalakshi were prosecuted by the anti-corruption bureau for accumulating assets beyond their income. The special court that heard the case acquitted both of them in 2016, stating that there was no support for the charges against the anti-corruption department. In 2017, the Anti-Corruption Department filed an appeal in the madras high court against this verdict.


The high court heard this appeal case and sentenced minister Ponmudi and his wife to 3 years imprisonment and Rs. 50 lakhs has also been imposed as fine. Further, it has been ordered to stay the sentence by giving 30 days time to appeal against this verdict. As he has been sentenced to 3 years imprisonment in the asset embezzlement case, according to the Representation of the people Act, the post of minister and MLA. Ponmudi immediately lost his position.


Subsequently, minister for Backward Welfare raja Kannappan was additionally allotted the Higher education Department which was held by minister Ponmudi. chief minister Stalin sent the recommendation to governor RN Ravi. In this situation, the governor has approved the recommendation of chief minister Stalin to provide additional higher education to minister raja Kannappan.


Through this, the Departments of Higher education, Science and technology have been allocated to the Backward Welfare minister raja Kannappan. Likewise, the Department of Khadi and village Industries, which was held by raja Kannappan, has been additionally allocated to Handicrafts minister Gandhi.

Earlier, his lawyer N.R. Ilango said that he will appeal against the judgment given to minister Ponmudi in the supreme court and if the judgment is stayed in the appeal hearing, Ponmudi will get the position of Member of Legislative assembly and minister again.


After receiving the copy of the judgment yesterday, after consulting with the lawyer, minister Ponmudi's side is planning to file an appeal in the supreme court on january 2.
