The drones that hit the ship were reportedly launched by Yemen's Houthi rebels. No one was injured aboard the cargo ship M/V Saibaba that was hit. But the US said a distress call was sent to a US ship in the area after it was hit.

A US Navy ship on patrol in the southern red Sea reported that two ships were under attack. One of them, the Norwegian cargo ship M/V Blamanen, narrowly escaped being hit by a drone flown by Houthi rebels.


The M/V Saibaba informed the US vessel that it had been hit by a drone but no one was hurt. The US also claims that the messages were responded to from the USS Laboon. Recently, the US military has shot down four drones in Yemen's Houthi-held areas. The US also accuses iran of supporting the Houthi rebels.
