As per report Vice President jagdeep Dhankar has said that india will become the 3rd largest economy in the world within this decade. Vice President jagdeep Dhankar attended Panjab university Global Alumni Conference 2023. Speaking then, he said, "We have to be very responsible in the country. Our Bharat is changing like never before. I was a Member of parliament in 1989. I have been a Union Minister. I have observed many aspects over the years. Look where we are now! From a level of one billion, two billion USD, we now have foreign exchange reserves of over 600 billion. india will become the 3rd largest economy in the world within this decade.” He expressed hope.

In 1960 our own satellite was launched by another country. But now we are sending satellites manufactured in countries like USA, UK etc. He proudly said that this is the development that india has seen. punjab university has a rich history. We must all protect it. The Vice President emphasized that we should work to make punjab university one of the leading universities globally. He went on to say: “Punjab university alumni are world-class in various fields. Some of the people who have studied here have held many important positions like the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of the High Court, Chief Justice of the supreme Court, judges, scientists, important officials, senior officials, entrepreneurs. It is a university with an unrivaled strength of alumni. Our National education Policy has been formulated after thirty years with input from all parties. When it comes to studies, it should be like a river. Let the human mind flow like a river.

We are proud that ancient Bharat had many universities like Nalanda, Taxila. We need to build global institutions to that extent. It cannot be done on the strength of the Senate or the Syndicate or the government or the Vice-Chancellor alone. That feat can only be achieved through the contribution of alumni.

I have no doubt that the time has come in this country to pool knowledge and experience and showcase the strengths of alumni from various institutions. There are IIMs in India. There are IITs. There are scientific institutes. There are many universities. There are important colleges. Now if the best alumni of these institutions come together on one platform, powerful policies can be created. Female education and status of women in the country has now improved. After 30 years of great struggle and defeat, the law has now been passed to provide one-third reservation for women in the lok sabha and state legislatures.

I imagine the predicament of women before sunrise and after sunset when there were no latrines. Now every house has a toilet. Remember that gas connections are provided free of charge. india is changing very fast. India's rapid growth emanates from its universities. I have no doubt about the strength of Panjab university alumni. You have the ability, the talent and the experience to make a big difference.” Thus he spoke.
