6,000 as compensation is being given to the people affected by the flood in southern districts from today. In this regard, the Chief Secretary has issued an important order to the district Collectors. The Chief Secretary to the government has given instructions to the district Heads and police High Commissioners regarding the work of providing relief to the affected people in tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari and tenkasi districts due to heavy rains. Following this, in the press release issued by him, due to heavy rains during the northeast monsoon season on 17.12.2023 and 18.12.2023,
6,63,760 families affected by floods in tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari and tenkasi districts will be provided Rs.6,000/- as relief and 5 kg of rice on the basis of family card and 14,31,164 families will be given Rs.1,000/- per family as relief. Based on receipt of government Orders, Chief Secretary Mr. Shiv Das Meena, EAP, yesterday (28.12.2023) held a progress meeting and gave instructions to carry out this work with excellence. Tokens have been given directly to the cardholder's homes regarding the day and time to receive the relief amount from 26.12.2023 so that the cardholders can receive the relief amount without any defects in the work without any crowding on the appropriate dates. Cardholders can visit Fair Price Shops with Family Card at specified times on specified days and collect their relief assistance. In order to provide the said relief amount to the public without any complaint and in the event of a complaint, it should be immediately brought to the attention of the concerned officers and given a solution for tirunelveli district at 93424 71314, 9786566111, Tuticorin district at 94864 54714, 1077 and tenkasi district at 04633-290548. No. and 04652-231077 for Kanyakumari district, Control Rooms are functional from 26.12.2023.
Also, the control room at the office of the Commissioner of Food Supply and Consumer Protection at 044-28592828 will be operational during office hours. The chief secretary said that while the relief aid given to the public with the aim of eradicating the flood woes is being given to all the affected families, the public is requested to cooperate adequately in this work and get relief.
