Senior congress leader Rahul gandhi has assured that a caste-wise census will be conducted across the country if the congress comes to power. As caste-wise statistics are required for implementation of development and social justice programs at the national and state levels, various political party leaders have been demanding that the central government conduct a caste-wise census along with the population census. However, the central government, which does not even conduct a census, does not seem to be heeding the demands for a caste-wise census. However, the central government has said that the state governments can conduct caste-wise census themselves if they wish. In that regard, the caste-wise census has been completed in bihar only and the results have been published.
On the other hand, the congress party promised to conduct a caste-wise census if they won during the five-state elections. In this situation, the party's senior leader Rahul gandhi has assured that if the congress wins the lok sabha elections in 2024 and comes to power, a caste-wise census will be conducted across the country. Speaking at a rally held on the occasion of the party's 139th foundation day in Nagpur, Rahul gandhi said that if the party comes to power in the 2024 elections, a caste-wise census will be conducted across the country. He also alleged that OBCs, Dalits and tribals are not adequately represented in many sectors.
PM Modi describes himself as an OBC. But after my request (caste enumeration), he says there is only one caste, poor. If it is one caste then why do you call yourself OBC? Rahul gandhi questioned. “When we come to power we will conduct a caste-wise census and ensure equal representation for all castes. We do not want two Hindustans, one for the poor and the other for the rich.” Rahul gandhi said.
Modi did not fulfill his promise of 2 crore jobs for youth. On the contrary, he alleged that India's unemployment rate has risen to a 40-year high. "Youngsters don't have jobs, so they waste 7-8 hours scrolling through social media. The situation is dire. Only the All india Alliance of Opposition parties can give them jobs.” Rahul gandhi also said.
All india congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge promised to implement the minimum income support scheme 'NYAY' to empower women and the poor. "There are two ideologies in Nagpur, one is the progress of Ambedkar and the other is the RSS that is destroying the nation." Karke also scolded at that time.
