Reportedly punjab government has appointed 1990 batch IAS officer Vijay Kumar Singh as Special Chief Secretary to chief minister Bhagwant. Vijay Kumar Singh has long experience of working on many important posts in punjab government and Central Government. On saturday (November 30), punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma issued a notification regarding appointment of Vijay Kumar as Special Chief Secretary to chief minister Bhagwant Mann. IAS Vijay Kumar is originally from bihar and is a 1990 batch IAS officer of punjab cadre.
Meanwhile before this, Vijay Kumar had served in many other departments including the government of India. punjab cadre IAS Vijay Kumar served as Secretary in the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare of the Defense Ministry in the Central Government. He has also worked as Special Chief Secretary in the Textile Department of the Central Government. Apart from this, he also worked on the post of Joint Secretary in the Department of Labor and Training of the Central Government.
According to the news published in Dainik Bhaskar, the AAP government of punjab had requested the central government to send IAS Vijay Kumar back to the state. Which was accepted by the Central Government. IAS Vijay Kumar is the most senior officer in the recent punjab government. He was currently serving in the central government on deputation. Born in bihar in 1971, Vijay Kumar worked in many important departments of punjab and central government for almost 33 years. After Vijay Kumar, the most senior officer in punjab is Vini Mahajan, although he is posted as Secretary, Drinking Water and Sanitation Department in the Ministry of Jal Shakti. 1993 batch IAS officer Anurag Verma is currently the Secretary to the Chief of Punjab.
