Reportedly aam aadmi party (AAP) has declared delhi Commission for women (DCW) Chairperson swati Maliwal as its candidate for the rajya sabha elections. swati Maliwal has been made the candidate in place of sitting rajya sabha MP Sushil Kumar Gupta. swati Maliwal resigned from the post of Chairperson of delhi Women's Commission after AAP nominated her for the rajya sabha elections on Friday. swati Maliwal was appointed as the Chairperson of DCW in the year 2015.

Meanwhile during this period, Maliwal has played an important role in taking initiatives to address issues like acid attacks, sexual harassment and women's safety in Delhi. Who is swati Maliwal?

Maliwal was born on 15 october 1984 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. After completing his education at Amity international School, he obtained a Bachelor's degree in IT from JSS Academy of Technical Education. At the age of 21, she left her corporate career and joined a social organization called 'Parivartan'.After this, she became a part of Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement 'India Against Corruption' and became close to Arvind Kejriwal. swati Maliwal married naveen Jaihind. However, both of them got divorced in 2020.
