Maharashtra Speaker rahul Narwekar did not disqualify 54 MLAs and retained members of both the factions - Eknath Shinde-led shiv sena and shiv sena (UBT), but the decision raised questions over uddhav Thackeray's leadership. Raised a mark and weakened his position as a leader. “The Paksha Pramukh (party chief) is only a presiding member of the national executive of the party,” the Speaker said while reading the judgement. His wish is synonymous with the party's wish, which cannot be accepted."

What did rahul Narvekar say?

While reading the decision, the Speaker further said that the party president does not have the right to remove anyone from the post. He said, 'The removal of shiv sena leader Eknath Shinde by party president uddhav thackeray cannot be accepted. On june 9, 1966, when bal thackeray founded shiv sena, everyone addressed him as the party supremo. His orders were final in the party and its policies. In 2002, when uddhav was appointed the working president of the party, the reins of the party passed from the father to the son.

40 out of 56 MLAs changed sides

In the year 2012, after the death of bal thackeray, it was understood that the undisputed high command in the party is none other than uddhav thackeray, but in june 2022, when Eknath Shinde raised the flag of rebellion, leading to a split in the party, This was the biggest blow for shiv sena and uddhav Thackeray. Of the 56 MLAs, 40 changed their loyalties and became part of the Shinde-led force. About 13 out of 19 MPs joined Shinde faction. The split in shiv sena took place when uddhav was the chief minister of Maharashtra. It is noteworthy that in the year 2014, he had demonstrated his strength by making a tough seat-sharing deal with the alliance partner BJP.
