On the occasion of Pongal festival, the world famous Avaniapuram Jallikattu competition will be held
In this situation, the madurai police have ordered to impose restrictions on the cow owners and cow catchers participating in the competition. Accordingly, it has been informed that vehicles carrying bulls will be allowed to stand in line at Avaniyapuram Muthupatti junction from 12 midnight today, bulls and their owners, only one person to assist him.
Also, it has been said that vehicles carrying bulls will be allowed to participate in Jallikattu only up to Muthupatti Junction via Vellakal Road, Thiruparangunram Road and Muthupatti Road.
Restrictions on cow catchers
It has been said that the owner and assistant accompanying the bulls should not be under the influence of alcohol and the bulls and owners participating in Jallikattu are allowed only if they come with permits approved by the district administration. It has been informed that the owners of bulls should not bring knife or sharp weapons to cut the nose-strings of cows and properly trained officers with necessary equipment have been appointed by the district administration to remove the nose-strings of Jallikattu bulls. Cowherds participating in Jallikattu must not be under the influence of alcohol for any reason. Legal action will be taken against violators.
