A song and dance performance by school and college students was held at the 75th Republic Day celebrations in Chennai. students of queen Mary college chennai, Stella Mary's college, Choka Iketa college of Arts and Science danced to the folk song.
The Republic Day celebrations held in chennai enthralled the audience with school and college dance and song performances and spectacular traditional village art performances.
On the occasion of the 75th Republic Day, governor RN ravi hoisted the national flag near the Statue of Labor on chennai Beach Road in the presence of chief minister M. K. Stalin. Following this, he received the honor of the parade of the three armies by the Governor. Later, a song and dance program was held by the school and college students.
Students of queen Mary college chennai, Stella Mary's college, Choka Iketa college of Arts and Science danced to the folk song. Similarly, students from Jayagopal Karodia government Girls Higher Secondary school, Choolaimet, chennai, Lourdes Girls Higher Secondary school, Perampur, Valliammal Girls Matric Higher Secondary school, Anna nagar danced to the folk song.
This was followed by traditional performances including Ash puri dance of odisha State, Siddhi dance which is a tribal dance of Karnataka, Lai Harepa dance of Manipur State, the famous Kai Silambatam Karakattam Naiyandi Melam of madurai District tamil Nadu village Arts Development Centre. The dance and traditional arts performances by the students of the school and college enthralled the audience.
At the end of the program, the first prize was awarded to the students of queen Mary college, chennai, the second prize to the students of Stella Mary's college and the third prize to the students of Choka Iketa college of Arts and Sciences who performed the best dance. The first prize was awarded to the students of Choolaimedu Jayagopal Karodia government Girls Higher Secondary school, chennai, the second prize to the students of Lourdes Girls Higher Secondary school, Perambur, and the third prize to the students of Anna nagar Valliammal Girls Matric Higher Secondary school, Chennai.
