Accordingly Jharkhand's CP Radhakrishnan invited Champai Soren to take oath as CM. Today on 2nd february he will be sworn in as CM. There is no information regarding time yet. In this way the political suspense of jharkhand ended and the way for government formation was cleared. Alamgir Alam and Satyendra Bhokta can take oath along with Champai Soren. Satyendra Bhokta is from RJD while Alamgir Alam is a congress MLA. Earlier on Thursday, at 5.30 pm, Champai Soren had met the governor and staked claim to form the government. He claimed the support of 43 MLAs.
Earlier, due to 'fear' of disunity among the MLAs, it was decided to send them out of the state. There were preparations to send them to hyderabad but due to bad weather the plane could not take off and the MLAs had to return. There were preparations to send some 40 MLAs to Hyderabad. The 43 MLAs who have the support of Champai Soren include 24 from K, 17 from congress, one mla each from RJD and cpi (ML). After waiting for about two hours at the airport, the MLAs returned to the Circuit House, where they are staying.
Moreover the journey of 67 year old Champai Soren has been quite a struggle. State Transport minister Champai Soren, considered a loyalist of JMM chief Shibu Soren, is also known as 'Jharkhand Tiger' for his contribution in the long fight for a separate (Jharkhand) state in the 1990s. "I used to work in the fields with my father (Simal Soren)...now fate has given me an opportunity to play a different role," Champai told PTI after being elected leader of the JMM legislature party. After hemant Soren's resignation from the post of chief minister and his subsequent arrest, Champai was elected the new leader of JMM Legislature Party. Perhaps Champai, who studied from a government school till matriculation, got married at a very young age. He has four sons and three daughters. He started his political career by being elected as an independent mla in the by-election from Seraikela seat in 1991. Four years later, he contested the assembly elections on JMM ticket and defeated bjp candidate Panchu Tudu.
