Voting counting in pakistan persists even after two days, and the pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, led by Imran Khan, has issued a threat to the election commission, demanding the declaration of complete results by midnight on saturday (February 10). PTI warned of protests in areas where results have not been declared if the election commission fails to meet the deadline.
PTI confidently declared its intent to form the government at the Centre, as well as in the provinces of punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Independent candidates backed by PTI, led by the incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan, have secured over 100 seats in the National assembly from Thursday's (February 8) elections. Despite the ongoing delay in vote counting and result declaration, early indications suggest the likelihood of a coalition government in the country.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the election Commission's performance, PTI Chief Gauhar ali Khan accused the ECP of not fulfilling its constitutional duty to declare timely results. Khan demanded the declaration of complete results by midnight, emphasizing that PTI had won 170 seats, including those initially declared for the party. He asserted that PTI possessed Form 45 certificates from polling stations, indicating victories for their supported candidates, despite the Returning Officer declaring them defeated.
