bharatiya janata party (BJP) released the first list of candidates for the upcoming lok sabha elections. The names of candidates for 195 seats were announced by bjp on Saturday. Candidates were also declared for 24 out of 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh. bjp has fielded Union minister jyotiraditya scindia from Guna lok sabha seat.
jyotiraditya scindia is going to contest elections for the first time on the bjp symbol. Earlier, jyotiraditya scindia had contested elections as a congress candidate in the year 2019. He lost the Guna seat to bjp candidate Krishnapal Singh Yadav. Then Scindia had got 4,86,105 votes and he lost the contest by a margin of about 1.25 lakh votes. Guna lok sabha seat is considered the stronghold of the Scindia family since 1957. In all the elections held here till now, bjp got victory only when it fielded Vijayaraje Scindia from here.
Only 'Mahal' candidate got victory 14 times from Guna.
If we talk about the parties' wins and losses from Guna lok sabha seat, congress has won nine times in the elections held so far. bjp won here five times, Jan Sangh once and Swatantra party once. 16 lok sabha elections were held here from 1952 to 2019. An interesting statistic is that the candidate from 'Mahal' won here 14 times. If we look at the caste equation of Guna, the Scheduled Tribe population here is the highest at more than 2 lakh 30 thousand. After that there is the scheduled caste population, which is more than one lakh.
There are 80 thousand Brahmins, 73 thousand Yadavs, 60 thousand Kushwahas, 32 thousand Raghuvanshis, 20 thousand Muslims and 20 thousand Vaishya Jains. If we talk about the total population of Guna, the population here is 24 lakh 93 thousand 675. The total number of voters here is 11,78,423.
