Lok Sabha elections are to be held in april May. BGP has announced candidates for five out of seven seats in Delhi. This time bjp has made Bansuri Swaraj its candidate in place of sitting mp Meenakshi Lekhi. This time aam aadmi party and congress are contesting elections in delhi in alliance. New delhi seat is in AAP's quota under the alliance. On this seat, aam aadmi party has nominated three-time mla from Malviya Nagar, somnath Bharti. AAP and bjp candidates are lawyers by profession and practice in the supreme Court.
Presently chief minister arvind kejriwal is the mla from New delhi assembly seat. He is representing the public on this seat for the third consecutive time. Whereas the New delhi Lok Sabha seat is held by bjp since 2014. Anyway, BJP's influence on the New delhi parliamentary seat has been there since the time of Jan Sangh. Meenakshi Lekhi, a lawyer by profession, has been successful in winning the election from this parliamentary seat for two consecutive times. This time, instead of giving her the ticket from this seat, bjp has fielded former External Affairs minister and sushma Swaraj's daughter Bansuri Swaraj.
Competition on New delhi seat tough
Seen from this perspective, it is not easy for any of the candidates of both the parties to win. The contest on this seat is going to prove tough for both. This is because AAP candidate somnath Bharat has made his own name in the politics of Delhi. He came into politics after participating in the Anna movement and since then has been an mla from Malviya Nagar, a very elite assembly seat of Delhi. Meanwhile, he came into limelight several times due to family and political reasons, but he did not let it affect his political career. He has been continuously winning elections from this seat. Bharti is considered close to cm Arvind Kejriwal. Presently he is also the Vice Chairman of delhi Jal Board.
