Delhi congress President Arvinder Singh Lovely has resigned from his post creating a stir in the political arena.
Delhi congress President Arvinder Singh Lovely has resigned from his post. As the lok sabha elections are going on across the country, the sudden resignation of the delhi congress President has created a stir in the political arena. Arvinder Singh Lovely has sent his resignation letter to All india congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge.In his resignation letter, he said, “The delhi wing of the congress party was against forming an alliance with the Aam Aadmi party, which was formed on the basis of leveling false, fabricated and false allegations of corruption against the congress Party. However, the congress formed an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party.” He said.
Arvinder Singh Lovely was first elected to the delhi Assembly in 1998 from the gandhi Nagar constituency on behalf of the congress Party. Representing the constituency till 2015, he held several key portfolios in the governments led by late former chief minister Sheila Dikshit, including the Ministry of Urban Development and Revenue, education and Transport.In the 2019 lok sabha elections, he lost against bjp candidate gautam gambhir, a cricketer, and Aam Aadmi Party's Adishi from the east delhi constituency. gautam gambhir won that election.
Active in student politics during college, Arvinder Singh Lovely was elected General Secretary of the delhi Youth congress in 1990. Later, he served as the General Secretary of the National students Union of india (NSUI) from 1992 to 1996.A long-time member of the congress party, he left the congress party and joined the bjp in 2017. But within a few months he rejoined the congress saying that the BJP's ideologies were wrong.
